A Motion Page

Performance for an overhead projector, 12 ‘, 2015

Half way in between film and live performance, the actor recite Robert Walser short story ‘The last prose piece’ while turning the pages of a book placed under the overhead projector. Like an edited movie, the live projection of the book shows the reader’s hands turning the pages at different rhythm, some lingering, some flickering, in correlation with the narration. The various typographical arrangement of words on each pages sets up an interpretative filter upon the original text, in echo to the cryptographic talent of Walser and his attention to calligraphy.
